WRD Chhattisgarh Elevates Water Governance with Aaxis Nano’s Digital Hydrology Network
Under the National Hydrology Project, the 160-site RTDAS network has strengthened flood preparedness, reservoir oversight and data-led water-resource management since 2021.

Aaxis Nano implemented a statewide Real-Time Data Acquisition System (RTDAS) for WRD Chhattisgarh, enabling precise, continuous and decision-ready hydrological oversight across rivers, reservoirs and critical water assets.
The initiative brings rivers, reservoirs and field stations into a unified operating layer, providing clearer visibility across 160 strategic locations in the Mahanadi, Godavari, Ganga and Brahmani river basins. It supports a shift from dispersed manual observation to validated datasets for forecasting, operations, planning, modelling and reporting.
Under the project, a comprehensive suite of instruments was deployed, including Automatic Water Level Recorders, Automatic Rain Gauges, Automatic Weather Stations, ATRH probes, shaft encoders, evaporimeters and pyranometers. These devices capture water levels, rainfall, weather variables, evaporation and solar radiation, giving the department a sharper understanding of basin behaviour across changing terrain and seasonal conditions.
For reliable transmission from remote and unattended sites, the solution uses secure GSM/GPRS connectivity with INSAT-based communication. Its analytics platform interfaces with WRD’s e-SWIS infrastructure, supporting configuration, calibration, validation and centralised visualisation at the state data centre.
Delivered with WRD certification and backed by five years of operation and maintenance, the project goes beyond deployment to create a dependable technical foundation for flood forecasting, reservoir control and long-term planning. By integrating instrumentation, telemetry and service support, Aaxis Nano has helped convert complex field conditions into actionable hydrological intelligence, enabling more informed, responsive and risk-ready decision-making.
