55i Direct Methane & Non-Methane Hydrocarbon Analyzer

Make automated measurements of methane and non-methane hydrocarbons with the Thermo Scientific™ Direct Methane & Non-Methane Hydrocarbon Analyzer, Model 55i. Unlike instruments that measure only methane and total hydrocarbons, this back-flush gas chromatography (GC) system provides a direct measurement of non-methane concentrations.

  • Back-flush GC system separates methane (CH₄) from NMHCs using a stripper column for distinct measurements
  • Direct, real-time measurement of CH₄ and NMHCs
  • High-accuracy readings even at low ppm levels for total hydrocarbons (THC)
  • Automated operations including auto-flame sensing/ignition, auto-calibration, and span checks
  • iSeries platform with enhanced electronics, intuitive interface, large display, and Ethernet connectivity for remote management
  • Flash memory for extensive data storage with downloadable software support
  • Ambient Air Quality Monitoring: Measuring low levels of hydrocarbons in the surrounding atmosphere to assess general air quality and track pollutants.
  • Industrial Hygiene: Monitoring air in industrial settings to ensure workplace safety standards are met by detecting potentially harmful hydrocarbon concentrations.
  • Environmental Research: Used by researchers and scientists to study atmospheric composition, track greenhouse gas emissions (specifically methane), and understand air pollution sources.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Reporting: Providing accurate data for industries to comply with environmental regulations regarding volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and air quality standards.
  • Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS): While more general, the technology is robust enough to be incorporated into CEMS for continuous monitoring of specific industrial processes and emissions.
