Aaxis Nano Modernizes Effluent Treatment Operations for Department of Atomic Agency
Aaxis Nano successfully delivered a centralized PLC-SCADA based Control & Instrumentation System, bringing critical effluent treatment operations, distributed Hold-Up Tanks, and process assets under a unified supervisory platform

Managing effluent treatment across multiple facilities, process units, and distributed assets demands more than monitoring; it requires intelligent and coordinated control. At the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) of Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Kota, a unit of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), a centralized control system has brought critical treatment operations under a unified supervisory framework, enhancing visibility, reliability, and operational control across the facility.
At the core of this transformation is an integrated control environment that brings together Active Liquid Waste Treatment, Active Solid Waste Management, and Non-Active Waste Treatment facilities, along with distributed Hold-Up Tanks (HUTs), utility infrastructure, and third-party process systems. Through centralized SCADA-based monitoring, operators gain real-time access to process conditions, equipment status, alarms, events, and historical trends, enabling more informed decision-making and enhanced operational oversight.
Built on a distributed PLC architecture, the system integrates Remote I/O stations, industrial Ethernet networks, and a redundant fibre optic communication backbone. Redundancy across critical system layers, including supervisory servers, communication networks, and power systems, enhances availability and supports uninterrupted plant operation. Advanced field instrumentation, including Electromagnetic Flow Meters, Radar Level Transmitters, Pressure Transmitters, Level Switches, and associated control interfaces, provides continuous visibility into critical process parameters, supported by alarm management, historical trending, reporting, and diagnostic functions.
By bringing multiple treatment facilities and distributed assets onto a single automation platform, the project enhances operational reliability, process transparency, and centralized supervision across NFC Kota’s effluent treatment operations. The successful implementation further reinforces Aaxis Nano’s expertise in delivering automation solutions for mission-critical industrial environments where safety, availability, and process integrity are paramount.
