Aqua TROLL RDO Sensor (Includes RDO X Cap)
The RDO sensor uses RDO Technology, which is the EPA-approved method for optical DO measurement. It provides accurate and stable dissolved oxygen (DO) measurements. This RDO foil is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions while providing best-in-class accuracy.
- Patented RDO® Technology: The sensor uses an EPA-approved optical method (fluorescence quenching) for dissolved oxygen measurement, which is less affected by fouling and does not require a flowing sample like some other methods.
- Rugged Construction: The sensor is designed for durability and long-term performance in challenging conditions, including freshwater, saltwater, and groundwater environments.
- Low Maintenance Deployment: The RDO-X cap has a unique three-layer, abrasion-resistant formulation, which extends the life of the sensor and minimizes maintenance, reducing the need for frequent field trips.
- Instant Hydration Conditioning: Unlike other DO sensors, the RDO formulation does not require 12-24 hours of hydration and reads accurately within 90 seconds of going from dry to wet conditions, saving significant time during deployment.
- Smart Sensor Cap: The sensing foils are factory-calibrated at 90 discrete points, and the calibration coefficients are stored on the replaceable cap itself. This eliminates manual data entry and ensures accuracy when caps are swapped in the field.
- Antifouling Capabilities: The sensor is part of a system that can include passive and active antifouling features (like an optional wiper system on the Aqua TROLL 500/600 sondes) to keep all sensors clean during long-term deployment, ensuring higher quality data.
- Real-Time and Long-Term Monitoring: The sensor can provide real-time data for spot-checking and profiling, or integrate with data loggers and telemetry systems (like HydroVu Data Services) for continuous, remote long-term monitoring and data access.
- Automatic Compensation: The system automatically compensates for temperature and barometric pressure variations (barometric pressure sensor in the analyzer/sonde) to provide accurate dissolved oxygen concentration or percent saturation readings
- Surface Water Monitoring: Lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, and ponds for long-term trend analysis or event-based studies (like CSOs).
- Coastal & Estuarine: Deployments in challenging marine and brackish environments.
- Groundwater: Low-flow sampling and monitoring.
- Wastewater: Monitoring aeration basins and managing impacts.
- Aquaculture: Fish farms and hatcheries.
- Remediation: Monitoring mine water and contaminated sites.
- HABs Monitoring: Quick detection and management of harmful algal blooms.
