Aaxis Nano’s Lab on Wheels Transforms Wastewater Monitoring for OSPCB
A GPS-enabled MRTWQMS delivers 45-minute field analysis, live telemetry and dashboard-led compliance oversight across Bhubaneswar
The Odisha State Pollution Control Board has taken a decisive step towards faster and more transparent wastewater oversight in Bhubaneswar through the deployment of a Mobile Real-Time Wastewater Quality Monitoring System (MRTWQMS).

As the city continues to expand, wastewater generation from residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sources has increased the need for quicker field assessment and stronger compliance visibility. Earlier, dependence on manual sampling and laboratory testing often resulted in delayed results, limited geographic coverage and slower enforcement response.
The MRTWQMS addresses this challenge through a mobile, sensor-based platform capable of on-site sampling, rapid analysis and wireless transmission from multiple city locations. The project supports coverage across more than
1,600 discharge points, including residential and commercial buildings, industrial units, hotels, hospitals and other establishments.
As the technology partner, Aaxis Nano delivered an integrated “lab on wheels” equipped with high-precision sensors, rugged instrumentation, GPS-enabled telemetry and cloud-based analytics. The system analyses 12 critical parameters, including BOD, COD, DO, TSS, TOC, nutrients, oil and grease, and coliforms. Using UV-VIS spectroscopy, optical sensing and microbial detection technologies, it provides validated results within 45 minutes.
The solution also supports auto-zero and multipoint calibration, secure dashboard connectivity, live alerts, compliance reports and audit-ready traceability. Backed by five years of operation and maintenance, the deployment marks a clear shift from delayed manual checks to faster, evidence-led environmental enforcement.
By bringing laboratory-grade capability directly to the field, Aaxis Nano has helped OSPCB build a scalable model for responsive governance, stronger compliance oversight and sustainable urban water management.
